Duane and I (Leslie) and our six children answered the call of God to serve the Guatemalan people almost six years ago. We are ordinary Christians who have simply made ourselves available to the Lord. Duane flew for a private corporation for several years before the Lord began to be the center of his focus. I was a RN in a neonatal intensive unit for 15 years. Our children (ages 24 - 10) felt the call as strongly as we did and left their friends and school without regret. We received "on the job training" for one year in an orphanage where we learned the language and a little bit of the culture. From the very beginning the Lord made it clear that we were to minister to the people through medicine. People who did not know that I was a nurse began to come to the orphanage asking for medical help. Medicine is only a tool that allows us to know the people and the needs they have. It is an open door to reach out to them in prayer and with the love of Jesus.

We are involved in many different ministries.  We use these different ministries as a tool to share the love of God with others and the truth of his word.  We share Christ through all of these ministries.

Medical

Our focus is on medical care in the area surrounding our home.  We have four medical clinics in mountainous villages where we travel each week to administer acute care and teach about nutrition and prenatal care.

Agricultural

It is our desire for the people to be prosperous in this land.  We bless the people by using a tractor to plow ground to plant crops.  We are trying different methods of growing to produce new crops in this land. 

Church

We work with the local pastors encouraging unity and personal growth.  We also minister to the youth during Sunday School.

Schools

We are in the process of teaching basic hygiene and nutrition in the local schools.
